MAYHEM - De mysteriis dom sathanas LP
The murder of Euronymous by Varg happened right before the initial release of
the CD. Accordingly, the family of Euronymous asked Hellhammer to remove all
bass lines from the album, because Varg's contribution didn't deserve to be on
the CD, in their opinion. Hellhammer promised that he would replace bass lines
with his own, but he didn't know how to play bass, so the CD was left with
Varg's basslines, although not heard as well as the other instruments because of
it being lowered. All the CD's contain on the back "A Tribute To Euronymous"
with promo photos of only Euronymous and Hellhammer. It doesn't show Attila,
Varg or Blackthorn being held responsible for the recording of the album, the
only persons credited are Euronymous and Hellhammer.

Originally released in 1985, this the first press, 500 copies on colored vinyl!!! "This is the most underrated LP of all time in my opinion. It is every bit as good as Gang Green's Sold Out 7". The guitar riffs and song structures are completely over the top and the vocals, while still clean, are great with a more shouted or yelled feel on this release than their 7". Simple breakdowns and great buildups add a lot of power to this LP too. No metal influence on this record either which is always a plus. With awesome production, it comes close to being the perfect record. Lyrics are still pretty stupid in a humorous way. Fourteen cuts of some of the most intense rippers I've ever heard in my entire life. If you're into other UK thrashers like A.O.A., Heresy, or Ripcord or early Boston/US hardcore, you'll probably love these guys."

"Twelve tracks of Boston influenced hardcore punk thrash. Silly and stupid lyrics all around on this one, but the music is pure raging thrash that was very rare in the UK at the time. Fast, sloppy at times thrash with clean vocals but not annoying like later Ripcord. This 7" isn't quite as good as their next release (Peruvian Vacation LP), but it is still a gem. Pick it up if you can find it."

G.A.T.E.S is a japanese metalpunk band formed in 1999 with three metalheads and a punk guy. The bass player Mikami used to play for a progressive metal band called SALEM and now plays for the Doom Metal band CHURCH OF MISERY. Negishi, the singer, is ex-CHURCH OF MISERY. He also used to sing for a hardcore band ASSAULT. Our drummer Samm used to play for SABBAT and SACRIFICE. Now plays for a ghost of N.W.O.B.H.M. band MAGNESIUM and also for METALUCIFER. The guitar player Futatsugi used to play for a crusty hardcore band ANTI AUTHORIZE and also for LIFE.

“Devastation” is the long awaited new work of this sensational combo formed about ten years ago by current and past members of well known japan bands… and finally it’ s ready to devastate your turntable!!! After a demo and some high quality splits, this is the time of a solo MLP having 5 tracks of killer Motor-Punk and believe me if I say that these Japanese veterans are offering fucking killer music release after release! Hyper-catchy riffs, harsh voice, great bass work and punkish drum mixed into various both Metal & Punk elements that make G.A.T.E.S. a band so original and unique, playing at the same time an “usual” old styled genre but standing as gold in a field of iron!!! They recall to Motorhead at a first heard, but here you can find also elements from Tank, Hammerhawk, Raven and other heavy acts together with early GBH / Venom parts charged in a more aggressive matrix with lot of great solos in the best jap-tradition!!! Out in three editions with three different cover designs done by Reverend J. Sinn (singer of Bludwulf), “Devastation” is another luxurious jewel of the obscure label High Society Satanic. The one and only “negative” point, if it can be called that, is about its bad distribution here in Europe (and probably also in the rest of the World) making this G.A.T.E.S. product another “hard-to-find” item as their previous ones… But probably it’s what they want: be an elitist band, not for everyone but for special maniacs only, giving a big kick to posers and downloaders ass around the scene!

G.A.T.E.S. is also a band into METAL PUNK DEATH SQUAD club, a movement for the fans of both Metal and Punk music around the world.

This club started in the middle of 2007 as a sort of “joke” between good guyz into the scene as MFG of G.A.T.E.S. (Japan), Reverand J. Sinn of Bludwulf (Usa, east coast), Joel of Toxic Holocaust (Usa, west coast) and Staff of Destroy record (Uk) exalting their preferred old and new bands concerning this mix of sounds, and nowadays the movement is becoming even more big week after week.
If we should give a “point of departure” of the club it was into the “Members” edition of BLUDWULF / G.A.T.E.S. 7” EP, strictly limited to 100 copies including the patch which gone to real maniacs, supporters and collectors of the movement. There was no better release to start this kind of revolution into the realm of these two so worshipped genres. A new age is coming…
Lot of bands, persons, maniacs can exchange their points of view, opinions and wathever about Metal Punk through the “myspace world”, a good meeting point for every kind of fan into that music. So other chapters of the club followed their primal instinct rising horns to Punk and Metal: Russian / Mexican / Portugese / Taiwan / South Korean chapters, Italian Gangsters section and others are coming up!
Myspace also got many posers hidden behind the monitor of their PC, but M. P. D. S. absolutely don’ t support them: you know who you are! MP3 Downloaders, whimps, false metalheads or fashion punx must stay away from this congregation. If you don’ t support records, gigs and sincere attitude believing only in appareance and gossip, well, you have no future in this world!!!
Seems strange but metalpunk movement is not the last new of today… Metal and Punk are two kind of music that travelled together for ages, with friendship and also some misunderstandings, but always together. Think to bands such as Sacrilege (Uk), Accused, English Dogs, Hellbastard, Onslaught, Mentors, Voivod, G.I.S.M., Plasmatics ecc… they ever got influences from both the styles! And it’ s spontaneous to define their sound METALPUNK!

At the end of this report MFG (Futatsugi), guitarist of G.A.T.E.S., gives to us some answers about his band and his thoughts about METAL PUNK DEATH SQUAD club / movement:

1) Hail Masayasu! First of all explain the meaning of the abbreviations in G.A.T.E.S. band name, there is something in common with the word “gates”? In which way you chosen this name?

Our official band name is G.A.T.E.S. stand for God Admires The Evil Soul.
One of my favorite bands used to sing like "crush the gates of heaven and hell”,I thought it's really cool and inspired by it. Early G.A.T.E.S or actually myself was quite into occult style and tried to represent it.

2) Your band has the perfect music mixture for a good live performance. Do you usually play shows? If yes, what kind of people is present to your concerts? More metalheads than punks or the reverse?

Other members of the band play for other bands and G.A.T.E.S is just their second band so we don't play that much. I 'd prefer make our live show special thing and I always try to concentrate on the forth coming show and raise up my attention towards it. Even if it didn't work well, I wound 't be disappointed. Different types of bands ask us to play with at their shows, from up and coming crusty hardcore bands to older experienced bands.
G.A.T.E.S is a very unique mixture of people whose musical backbones are different. That's why we have offers form different types of bands.

3) Which is the usual G.A.T.E.S. listener? In japan the metalpunk scene is united or not?

Mainly punks but many different types of people listen to our music. In Japan, you can easily get information about underground music. There' s no proper "metalpunk" scene here. People just listen to what they think cool, they don' t stick if it' s punk or metal.

4) What about your lyrics?

Better ask about it to the singer! Basically our lyrics are in japanese. I think singing in english is easier than in japanese but he sticks to sing in japanese, not english.
In a word, our lyrics are very japanese occult type thing.

5) First of your words about M.P.D.S. movement give us some info about G.A.T.E.S. future.

Destroy records (UK) just put out the vinyl version of Total Death CD. HG Fact (Japan) will put out our split 7" with a band called BURNING LEATHER from US in the near future.

if I talk about the history or my view or details, that' d be really long, sonext time.
The music genre "metalpunk" has been there for long long time and I' ve been always attracted by certain music that is now called metalpunk. I wanted to share the sympathy or whatever with a few metalpunk fans, then one day I talked to Jmmi Sinn and the idea of M.P.D.S. was popped up! It' s a big surprise that many people like the idea and support us. I appreciate it so much.
I know some people will say "drawing the line is nonsense. No borders between punk and metal. Just have fun!" But that's not what i have intended and I' m afraid this kind of attitude would kill the music, it would hurt the core, the essence of each genre. Punk is punk. Metal is metal. They are　different, but I can enjoy both! And I believe all you guys with the pride of M.P.D.S. in the heart know about it, right?
"I can't live without MOTORHEAD" or "I' m a DISCHARGE junkie". If both punks and metalheads started the conversations like that and understood each other, that' d be really great. M.P.D.S. is kind of a strategy to make it happen. It’ s not a joke but not a total serious thing, ha.

Partita che si poteva vincere ma anche pareggiare, ma l'abbiamo vinta, i viola urlano al furto ma secondo me l'arbitro più che voler aiutare la juve ha voluto sfavorire la fiorentina, e questo succede da quando quel genio di Gilardino segnò di mano, da lì i viola hanno subito una sequenza di torti arbitrali impressionate, quindi Juve o non Juve i torti esistono, se poi Gila simula tutte le volte che è in aerea allora invita il direttore di gara a nozze..
Pagelle juve:

7 Del Piero – continua lo stato di forma strepitoso del capitano, passaggi da pallone d’oro e visione del gioco a 360°, gli manca solo il gol, è suo l’assist geometricamente perfetto per il gol di Marchisio.

7 Marchionni – si trova a tu per tu con Frey ma sbaglia il 2 a zero ma è padrone della fascia, rapido e deciso fa tremare Pasqual.

7 Marchisio – primo gol in maglia bianconera, incredibilmente freddo davanti al portiere, salta sempre l’uomo e non fa rimpiangere Camoranesi, anzi a tratti forse gioca pure meglio, partita da incorniciare MIGLIORE IN CAMPO.

POLITICAL QUESTIONS

I) How important is the emperor for the Japanese culture? And does it influence the government's decisions?

I) For our generation the emperor is just emperor but for old generation
the emperor is the symbol of Japan I think. The emperor had strong
influence during the II world war but now the emperor doesn't influence the government decision.

2) What kind of government is there in Japan? How many parties? And what about the antagonist movements?

2) Democracy. we have mainly 6,7 parties. One party has strong force but i
can't believe the party. But the antagonist party is weak, so the antagonist
movement is not so active in Japan so we have to change the system.

3) Tell us something about Japanese religion(s) and about the possibility of ideological conflicts against other religions like Islam or Catholicism.

3) Mainly we are Buddhist. But for us it's not important. There is no
ideological conflict in here.

4) Which importance does work have in Japan? And is it possible to live without working? Is it hard to get a job being punx with tatoos, spikes and studs?

4) We can't live without working. It's important for us.
Maybe it's harder to get a job for punx with tatoos spikes and studs than
USA or Europe. Japan is strict county. But we are all working except for one guy.

5) Do neo-nazi combos exist there? If yes, how does the police act against' em?

5) No.

6) How the relationships are between Japan and N.A.T.O.,U.S.A. and Europe?
Do you think that a threat for a new world war does really exist?

6) Japanese government likes big county, especially USA. Can't say no to USA.

BAND’ S QUESTIONS

I) Short story of the band.

I) We formed about IO years ago and changed some members and we are now.

2) What do you do for living?

2) All of us have a job. factory, car repairer, painter, junkee, bookseller.

3) If I'm not wrong you take part in a sort of crew ("natural crust punk force") that put gigs up in Japan. How does it work this organization? How much do you usually pay to see a live show? How many bands usually play in a night? What time does the show end? Do you pay bands for playing? How many gigs in a month?

3) 'Natural crust punk force' was a title of our show. But it changed new
title 'dead chain', it takes place at HUCKFINN in Nagoya at the first Saturday of each month.
And some bands organize the show. For example next month we are going to
organize.
We play with LIFE, DISCLOSE, FRAMTED and so on. But last month other
friend's band organized the show. Every month change the organizer and performance band.

4) Do squats exist in Japan?

4) No.

5) Have any G8 meetings been organized in Japan? If yes, there have been any protests ?

5) Yes, but no protest.

6) Are you politically involved?

6) No.

7) What do you think of ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT, EARTH LIBERATION FRONT, EARTH FIRST and other movements who practise direct actions as the only mean of opposition to capitalism?

7) There's no relation between my band and their movements. It depends on
individual.

8) Which bands influenced your music? And how do your lyrics see the light?

8) DOOM!! but now we are influenced not only hard core punk music but also
various other things. And our lyrics is complain and question about our living and some problems include ourselves.

9) What do you think of STRAIGHT EDGE? Are there any sxe in Reality crisis or are you a dirty crusty drunkards combo?

9) It depends on the people. It's not fashion, it's ok. We are not sxe, we
are just punk.

IO) Do you know any old or new Italian bands? Do you like some?

IO) WRETCHED!!

II) You toured U.S.A. Do you think to come in Europe too? Can you compare the American lifestyle to the Japanese one?

II) Of course we wanna tour. In USA, the way of life is almost same between
USA and Japan. But i thought American way of life is not busy than
Japanese one. Japan is very busy country!! But we couldn't drink and
smoke cigarettes freely in USA. In Japan we can drink beer anywhere!

I2) 5 things you really hate of this world.

I2) Human, work, tax, boring, and interview(haha)

I3) Are you vegetarian/vegan?

I3) No.

I4) How much is the salary of a worker in Japan? Is it enough for living?

I4) I9OOOO-27OOOO yen. It's about I7OO-25OO us dollars. We can live with
the money but it's not always enough. In Japan everything is very expensive!

I5) Do you think it's better to have a more united scene that involves crust, Oi!, grindcore, sxe hardcore and emocore bands or do you think that it's better to have lots of sectarian scenes who respect each others and collaborate for a better world?

I5) We wanna play with fun guys. We don't have to play with various bands
consciously. But if we are able to get along with hip hop guys, we wanna play with.

I6) Does the word "revolution" means anything to you?

I6) It doesn't mean just the word 'revolution' itself. But we think what we
play in a band is just 'revolution'.

I7) Do you think that someday you'll give all this up and put a happy family up or are you gonna be punx till the end?

I7) Me and one vocalist have a wife. And one guitarist has a wife and baby.
But we are punk. Forever.

I8) Future projects?

I8) European tour and a new record for your label ( Agipunk Records) and H.G. Fact records.

I9) Do you run a distribution, or a label ?

I9) We are going to release our new album from our new label.

2O) Are you disappointed Italian punks? We are not political band. We are
nothing but fight against our individual problem. Reality Crisis is myself. And have fun.

Occasione persa ieri per la juve, la Lazio ha giocato un ottimo primo tempo e i nostri ragazzi li dietro han sofferto e anche rischiato di prendere due pere, ma grazie a Melberg (lo svedese sembra un cruster o grinder della scena scandinava!) e all'ottima partita di Ariaudo (voto 7!) abbiamo portato a casa un bel punticino. L'inter comincia a tremare.

p.s. avrei preferito che Ranieri osasse un pò di più alla fine e il cambio Del piero - Giovinco non mi è andato giù , io avrei giocato con 3 punte i 10 minuti finali, ma forse il mister temeva i contropiedi della lazio e non a torto.
